About Delarose Family Foundation
The story of the Delarose Family Foundation begins with the life of its founder, Delarose Wabulassa, a young man whose journey from hardship to hope became the seed of this movement.
Delarose was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a nation blessed with beauty and resources but also marked by years of conflict and instability. In 2012, as violence and uncertainty threatened his family’s safety, he found himself in one of the world’s largest refugee settlements Kyaka II Refugee Settlement in Uganda.
Life in the refugee settlement was not easy. Days were long, resources were scarce, and dreams often felt distant. Yet within that hardship, Delarose discovered resilience. He witnessed how, even in the most challenging environments, people still carried hope. Children laughed, families shared what little they had, and communities came together to survive.
For several years, the refugee camp became both his home and his classroom. He experienced hunger, limited opportunities, and the pain of displacement. But he also experienced the power of solidarity. It was in those years that Delarose developed the compassion, determination, and vision that would one day give birth to the foundation.
In 2016, Delarose was able to move to the United States, carrying with him not just his own dreams, but the dreams of countless families he had lived among. He promised himself that his journey would not end with his own success, it would become a pathway for others. From that promise, the Delarose Family Foundation was born.
